Visiting rules
- Two visitors can be with a patient at the same time. You don’t need to book or be named in advance.
- Children shouldn’t visit adult wards unless the ward has agreed it in exceptional circumstances.
- Extra visits can be arranged when a patient is at the end of life, has received difficult news, or needs a carer’s support outside visiting hours. Ask a nurse on the ward.
- Most wards have protected mealtimes, when you’ll be asked to leave so patients can eat.
- Don’t visit if you have a cough, sore throat or other respiratory symptoms, or if you’ve been sick or had diarrhoea.
- Use hand gel when you enter a clinical area, and don’t eat, drink or sit on beds at the bedside.
- Check with the ward before bringing flowers, as they aren’t allowed in some areas.
Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield Hospital, which are run by the same trust, have their own visiting rules.
